The scare comes in Butland's second season at Ibrox, having joined in July 2023 following his release from Crystal Palace.

He has made 29 appearances in all competitions for Rangers this season, keeping 13 clean sheets.

It is now likely that back-up goalkeeper Liam Kelly will step in for the match against Celtic and for the forseeable while Butland is ruled out.
