The Department of Health said it recorded 300 cases of non-communicable diseases, including stroke, from Dec. 22, 2024 – Jan. 2, 2025.

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 300 cases of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including stroke, acute coronary syndrome, and bronchial asthma from Dec. 22, 2024 – Jan. 2, 2025.

Most of the projects are in the Renewable Energy (RE) sector, BOI Director Ernesto delos Reyes Jr. said on the sidelines of an RE forum organized by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines and Aboitiz Power Corp. at the Securities and Exchange Commission headquarters in Makati City on Friday.

The Bureau of the Treasury (BTr) will auction off P20 billion in Treasury bills (T-bills) on Monday or P6.5 billion each in 91- and 182-day paper and P7 billion in 364-day debt paper.

In a press conference on Thursday, Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa said most of the cases involved individuals who suffered due to stroke.

Of the 300 cases, 146 were stroke, 74 were acute coronary syndrome, and 80 were bronchial asthma.

Earlier, DOH said they are monitoring these cases, especially during the holidays, due to celebrations and health risks from firecrackers’ smoke.

“Alam naman natin ang new year’s resolution natin maging malusog maging healthy kaya pinaalala namin yung TED campaign – tamang pagkain, ehersiyo at disiplina sa katawan,” Herbosa said in a press conference.

(We all have the exact New Year’s resolution, which is to be healthy so we are reminding the public of our TED campaign — right consumption of food, exercise, and discipline regarding our bodies.)

“Yung disiplina, bawasan ang stress. Matulog; ang tamang oras eight hours of sleep. Bawasan ang vape alcohol, droga or substance abuse,”  he added.

(Regarding discipline, we should avoid stress, sleep for eight hours, and refrain from using vape, drinking alcohol, or taking drugs.)
