MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines aims to foster stronger collaborations with other countries as it participates in the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF), House of Representatives Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said on Tuesday.
In a statement, Romualdez said the Philippines remains committed to making deals even if the world still deals with the downsides of conflict.
Article continues after this advertisementThe Speaker, along with Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, Trade Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque, and representatives from the private sector, will be part of the Philippine delegation to the WEF.

“Amidst the continued downside risks of fragmentation and conflict, there are still deals to be done and partnerships to be forged and strengthened,” he added.
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to Romualdez, the delegation’s mission is to build on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s momentum after he participated in the WEF 2023.

Article continues after this advertisementBefore the WEF 2023, government officials said Marcos would introduce the then-proposed Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) on the world stage. In July 2023, Marcos signed Republic Act No. 11954 which created the MIF.

Also, it will be a chance for the country to exhibit how it champions the private sector’s participation in nation-building.
“Our participation in WEF 2025 serves as a prelude to our Asean leadership, showcasing the Philippines’ capacity to drive innovation, foster digital transformation, and champion climate resilience in the region and beyond,” he said.
